BBC Breakfast Follow Up On Peverel / Consensus Business Group
By admin | November 20th, 2009 | Category: Past Articles | 12 commentsFollowing the success of yesterday’s BBC Breakfast broadcast on Peverel Group / Consensus Business Group, the BBC were inundated with responses and said that it had resulted in one of the biggest email responses they had EVER had.
Which makes a mockery of Mr Rapley’s original comments that the complaints are from a minority of ‘serial complainers’.
For those of you that missed this mornings airing, we’ve uploaded the footage to allow you to watch it again. Once again, apologise that the sound quality is poor, which results in you having to turn the volume up / listen very carefully.
It’s pleasing that Consensus Business Group are advising that they will be undertaking a full investigation, which they hope will be completed by the end of February 2010.
However, those visitors to TheTruthAboutSolitaire will already be familiar to such promises from Peverel, as they promised in January that they were reviewing the structure of their business and how it is ran and almost twelve months on, we are yet to see any improvements – if anything, things have got worse.
We do hope that this investigation by Consensus Business Group, is applied to all of it’s guises, so that not only do the Retirement Home residents benefit, but also owners of leasehold properties / developments that have to pay Consensus Business Group subsideries namely – Solitaire Property Management, Peverel, Estates & Management, County Estate Management, Wenghold, Fairhold Homes - to manage their properties.

Ian Rapley is just a spokesman. It looks like William (Bill) Procter is the gentleman in charge of all the leasehold related Consensus Business Group subsidiaries ie Solitaire Property Management, Peverel, Estates and Management, County Estate Management, Wenghold, Fairhold Homes etc. We should be writing to him and asking the BBC to interview him ?
I and my wife bought a retirement flat in walton on the naze. Over the past 7 years the yearly charges have risen disproportionatley to the services and work carried out. No regular buding condition checks are carried out and the onsite House Manager has no real concept of what her duties are. She is more concerned with being a helpful friend than she is with actually running the complex.
Now we have been informed by Peveral that if we wish to renews our Kitchen or Bathroom thenwe have to get their permission and pay them a fee. we were told that as we had purchased the property then what we did inside the aprtments was entirely up to us and Peverels had no say over the matter. We intend to replace our kitchen but we WILL NOT pay Peverels a cent or even inform them as it is our home and property, not theirs.
We are charged £1300 ayear serice and management charges and £360 ground rent. That is an enourmous amount of money for a disbled person to find every year.
They are a company that profiteers from the elderly and vulnerable in the pretence of caring and supplying a service.

Have a very close look at Ian Rapley’s eyes, he looks like a ****** and ***** secondhand car salesman.
Ian Rapley has a ***** ***** **** on his face, you need this sort of ********** ********* to defend such a dishonest company such as Solitaire Property Management.
The dishonesty of Solitaire Property Management is beyond comprehension, they must be stopped from inflicting such misery on residents who are struggling to pay their utility bills.
Sorry to advise, but as an ex employee I can tell you that in fact you are only leasing the ‘space’ within the flat for ex number of years then, in law, at expiry of those years it reverts back to the landlord. If you carry out any alterations without permission and something goes wrong (say you have plumbing done and a leak develops floods another flat) you will have to pay for all damage. You need to bear that in mind!

I would like to ask Mr Keith Edgar why did you bother to write to Malin Court in an attempt to limit the damage created by Peverel’s representative on BBC News 20 11 09?
We are spoken/treated like this all the time by ALL of your SO CALLED managers.
Recently we had a RAT problem in our gardens and the lack of action by your staff is appalling.
Why, if I may ask. do I pay so much Service Charges and why the need for so many managers – and from experience all bullies from the very top right down to the bottom?
When lease arrangements permit they should just be replaced by other more competent and professional organisations. It takes a certain percentage of flat owners to agree on this course of action (I believe 51% with ours).
My son has one flat managed by a local managing agent and my daughter one which is managed (supposedly) by Peverel.
They are within maybe 300 yards of one another.
Peverels service is appalling but the cost substantially higher.
The only thing they are good at is getting their estimates wrong and then sending out inflated bills to cover costs which could be avoided if the place was properly managed.
There is a disaster waiting to happen at MC (10427) and this was very nearly the case in the early hours of Sun 28 3 10 because of the downright stupidity of Careline.
Having gone through your complaints procedure ie House Manager and as always your Area Manager’s (who thinks he is God) only response is, yet again, to quote the Gospel according to Peverel which is to deny and contradict all responsibility in order to protect Peverel.
Peverel allowed a very mentally ill man to come and live in MC some months ago (FACT) and which is a complete contradiction to Peverel’s own rules/lease, putting himself and other residents in very serious danger. My letter explaining further details of this incident will follow.

When I started posting on this site last year, I said I didn’t have all the answers to some of the questions raised here – but I would do my best to help.
Peverel Retirement division, the specialist manager of privately owned retirement properties, is an entirely separate operation – but I have passed your comment onto the senior team there.
I understand that they have been in contact with your Area Manager regarding the incident at your development. They have asked me to pass on the following response to you:
“The incident that you have described in your posting is, thankfully, very rare. Nevertheless, we do genuinely appreciate your concern.
The Peverel Retirement Area Manager has written to you in detail regarding your complaint. In his letter, he has outlined the reason for CarelineUK’s response, and the fact they have to ask a series of questions before deciding on the best course of action for the resident.
An answer to your additional point, Peverel Retirement manages the day-to-day operations and maintenance of your development only and has no control over who moves in and out, which is instead determined by the landlord.”

I am sorry to hear that you too are a fellow sufferer. Just to warn you that you should treat “Andy’s” sympathetic reply with caution. When he or she writes “Peverel Retirement manages the day-to-day operations and maintenance of your development only and has no control over who moves in and out, which is instead determined by the landlord” you should be aware that in all likelihood the landlord is Fairhold which is just Peverel by another name (Click on Companies button at top for a list of some of its pseudonyms.)
Margaret I know how you feel from my personal experience.
I was 59 when my struggle was dropped in my lap by PMC and now 63 so I do come in the category of old serial complainer (dribbling geriatric). My neighbours have been fed wrong information and have been labelled as the trouble maker who deserve everything I get and being called names such as revolting rude and vulgar bully.
In your case, they are shifting the blame to the landlord which I presume they know very well is one of their own Companies. In my experience OUR PMC are trying to claim my Land and Building and will not back down from their fixed “ Position”.

(a) 27th February 2010, my entry was about putting my flat for sale and claim the loss through the insurance policy.

HERE IS THE CLASSIC PMC CONTRADICTION
DE, head of the legal department HAS GIVEN ME IN WRTIING that they are the manager appointed as per lease then later on changes his mind and declare one of the Company as landlords .
As far as I know there is no management Company has been taken to court for bulling and harassment (as per dictionary meaning) . AS PMC is refusing to CHANGE THEIR “POSITION” so AM I GOING TO BE THE FIRST ONE TO TREAD THE PATH WHERE ANGEL FEARS.
