Downing St Petition Deadline Extended
By admin | April 9th, 2010 | Category: Past Articles | 3 commentsTTAS contributor ‘Archangel’ brought to our attention that the Downing St Petition Deadline has been extended until the 3 June 2010, following the announcment of the forthcoming General Election on the 6 May 2010.
Due to the General Election – the ePetition has had to be closed to new submissions and signatures until after 6 May.
No.10′s official statement in regards to this is as follows:-
During the official campaign period for the General Election the e-Petitions system will be closed to new submissions and signatures. The Government will also not issue responses to petitions during this period. This is to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Civil Service Code on party political neutrality.
Any petitions due to close between the announcement of the General Election and 3 June will have their deadlines extended to 3 June. Petitions will reopen for signatures upon the formation of the Government following the General Election.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time
The good news is that, up until the petition was ‘paused’ – we had 1391 signatures of support – so thank you to all of you.
In addition to this, CARLEX has launched a Political Party call ‘Carlex Leasehold Independence Party’ or CLIP for short, whereby they will be standing for parliament in the forthcoming election.
To find out more about CLIP visit CARLEX‘s website.

With CARLEX’s website achieving the number of hits they get (“April 6, 2010: Today we passed 100,000 hits on this website – an extraordinary number in just seven months) and this and many other Forums buzzing with the problems that Leaseholders have in all sorts of areas (but generally with Peverel and associated companies!) then it’s not inconceivable that someone from the CLIP campaign (see: http://www.clip.uk.net over the coming days) could actually be elected!
From CARLEX “According to the Daily Telegraph today, Parliament is going to have a lot more independent MP’s in the wake of the expenses scandal and general public disillusionment with recent political performance, and up to 12% of the population are likely to vote for an independent candidate”.
This would be a major achievement for ALL of us. I’m sure a lot of us have spoken to our current MPs (as I have) about our problems and they have shown genuine concern about the industry and lack of regulation. Even with the lobbying of Parliament that has been apparent from CARLEX there still hasn’t been any real progress in this direction. To have an elected MP sitting in the House whose primary aim is to help provide justice and fair treatment for Leaseholders would be a major step in achieving what we all want and I hope TTAS will be backing the CARLEX / CLIP campaign as much as it can (and we can all do our bit to help too!)
Nirmal, Esther Rantzen is standing independetly in Luton. I think
she will be perfect to challenge and take leaseholders cause.
If we can approach her in one of her election meetings or just
contact her that might open a path way.
I wish the very best for CLIP candidate, Mellissa Brigg today.
I am wondering if we can hand the petition at 10 Downing Street
along with MP/S and any contributor wish to join, if Darren Roisster
agrees that will be more beneficial. How knows press might join in
to highlight our plight?
