CARLEX Statement

It is with sadness, that TheTruthAboutSolitaire has been asked to report that one of the founder members of CARLEX – Don Heady, sadly passed away this afternoon.

Don was instrumental in the creation of CARLEX and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

We’ve been asked to field enquiries on behalf of CARLEX at this difficult time.

Therefore, please send any messages for CARLEX to admin@thetruthaboutsolitaire.co.uk.

    Admin,

Thank you for notifying us of the sad news of Donald’s passing.

I share in the condolences to his family and friends that have already been expressed by TTAS.

Don was a prominent figure on the Age (Concern) Forum and I think it says a lot about the man that one of his last acts on this earth was to write a letter ( see CARLEXAG / Age UK Forum for details ) fighting for the rights of the many, many older people in England, Wales, and Scotland who now find themselves having to spend their final years asserting their legal rights to fair and just treatment in the leasehold retirement homes

  2. Nirmal says:

Don Heady is a credit to his generation. Not only did he take up his own fight against unscrupulous Property Management Companies but as one of the founder members of CARLEX he’s helped set up a legacy that will hopefully result in justice for all those unfortunate enough to now be trapped in the leasehold minefield!

It’s a shame that in his time he didn’t get to see anything truly fundamental happen and until ‘a Government’ has the guts and decides to pull it’s head out of the sand to actually do something it looks like our battle for fair and just treatment (…is that too much to ask?!) goes on.

My deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to Don’s family, friends and colleagues at CARLEX.

Admin, good on you for helping out CARLEX in their time of need. I bet that you couldn’t rely on Peverel (etc.) to do likewise (…in fact probably totally the opposite!)

  3. Nirmal says:

As Archangel has highlighted, the mere fact that in his last few days Don was still fighting for his and others rights just goes to show the true character of the man!

Also it’s a very sad indictment to those companies involved that such a letter had to be written at all let alone in the last few days of his life.

It seems that “Andy” (or Lee?) has gone very quiet on TTAS now but “Laura Jones” the “Peverel Retirement Online Manager” looks like s/he’s still fairly active on Age Concern Discussions?! Is Andy quiet on TTAS because he is also “Laura” too and has been busy elsewhere?

I have just wriiten an email to my MP with regards to Solitaire and my circumstance at our Leasehold complex. He seems to be very interested in the goings on of this management company, I emailed him the link to this site. So watch this space.
Oh yes, have to have my bundle ready by 24th Sept 2010 to present to the LVT in Birmingham.

  5. Michael Epstein says:

    To all At CARLEX.
I was very sad to hear of the loss of Don Heady.
I wish to extend my sympathies to his family and friends.
Though many on TTAS site do not live in retirement homes your fight is our fight. Even if all our problems were solved we would still fight on your behalf.
70 years ago the blitz began. I would imagine that the people in retirement homes either survived the bombing raids or survived active service.
Those that did not survive gave their yesterday’s so my generation could have their today’s.
It is not a matter of duty as much as a matter of honour that we will be side by side, shoulder to shoulder with you in your time of need.
It is indeed sad that Don will not be here to see the collapse of Peverel, but be assured that in all your names especially Don’s we will all fight with all our strength until you can all live in the peace and dignity that is your right.

    [ADMIN EDIT]
    Michael,

Reading your post sent a shiver down our spine and we couldn’t agree more with your sentiment.

We will fight to ensure that the generations that have served us and this country in the past, will have the retirement that they deserve and we will not allow companies like PPMG to ruin this or to rip you off.

It is time for everyone to come together and fight the cause as a group and not as individuals of separate sectors. Leasehold / Retirement property owners should not feel that this plight is unique to their sector – it is common practise to the Leasehold Sector.

When we see new McCarthy & Stone development being built – our thoughts go out to the eventual residents that may have to suffer at the hands of PPMG.

It’s time for change – just when will PPMG realise!

  6. Nirmal says:

    Michael, Here here!

Admin, I agree with your sentiments that PPMG Honestly Don’t Believe They Have Problems! If after ALL that’s been said on TTAS, other online forums and review sites, been written about them in the National Press / industry publications and been broadcast on TV, with the commonality being that in the majority of these cases it’s in a negative context then I don’t think that PPMG will ever realise! (…until the day the administrators walk in!)

(…ironically one of the CAPTCHA codes for this post is “justice”)!!!

  7. Landmark says:

Our respect for anyone willing to go up against this industry is unending and we wish the family and friends of Don Heady the very best.

If we can assist Carlex in any way then we will of course be happy to oblige.

Kind regards – James Butler Esq
