About Us
In 2008, TheTruthAboutSolitaire was created in June 2008 to ascertain whether the service that I received from our property management company “Solitaire Property Management” were unique to just my development.
It soon started to become apparent that ‘Solitaire Property Managements’ reputation for poor service was starting to grow and due to the ‘uniqueness’ of content that was being published on TTAS, we soon started to build a community amongst Solitaire customers nationwide.
As we all started to share our experiences and realise that we were not alone in our plights, questions were asked about what could be done about it?
From this contributors to TTAS started to investigate and we soon discovered that we had options available to us, such as RTM, LVT’s, approach the freeholder and demand SPM to be replaced. Information, that up until then, was not commonly known to residents.
As RTM’s and LVTs started to take place, we soon started to discover that Solitaire Property Management were merely a small piece of a rather complicated corporate model, owned namely by a company called ‘Consensus Business Group’ – whom owned many other property management companies that we discovered had the same problems.
Suddenly, Peverel Property Management Group (who had acquired Solitaire Property Management) started to sit up and pay attention to TTAS and they were soon contributing to the site.
At first, their contribution was a positive one and it appeared that if a contributor posted publicly / mentioned TTAS – their complaint / issue was quickly dealt with.
However, it wasn’t long until the contribution to TTAS by Peverel started to become repetitive and contributors started to report that despite contacting ‘Andy’ (Peverel’s Online Feedback Manager) – their issues were not being responded too.
It was almost as if Peverel had got bored of contributors continually mentioning TTAS and their ’assistance’ started to cease, despite continual claims from ‘Andy’ that he was here to help.
In the latter part of 2009, an original TTAS contributor got together with retirement homeowners to promote the CARLEX (Campaign Against Retirement Leasehold EXploitation) campaign.
This attracted much press coverage, because it highlighted that , the issues and concerns regular leasehold property owners were experiencing, were also affecting the retirement property sector.
More digging took place and we started to discover that many other ‘Consensus Business Group’ companies were providing services to Peverel Managed developments, some were taking commissions on their service – namely Kingsborough Insurance, whilst others had ensured that there were contractual obligations to homeowners, whereby transfer fees had to be paid on properties and other hidden fees were involved.
2010 has seen a massive change in direction for TTAS, whereby we now see ourselves as a ‘campaign’ website to help others remove companies associated to Consensus Business Group / Peverel Property Management Group.
We changed the name of the site from targetting ‘Solitaire Property Management’ to now focus on the whole of the Peverel / Consensus Business Group and although many still refer to the site as TheTruthAboutSolitaire, it is in fact:-
The Truth About Solitaire (soon to be OM Property Management) & Peverel Group Companies (including Consensus Business Group)
Quite a mouthful, but it ensures that visitors to the site do not dismiss the content, because it doesn’t mention the management company that they are looking for.
The website has a vast wealth of information that can help you in your plight and we are in the process of collating this information and putting it in the ‘Essential Info‘ category, to make it easier for you to find, because there is quite a lot of info on here!
TTAS prides itself on reporting “TheTruth”, being impartial, whilst also boasting a thriving community that continues to grow and attract visitors who are in the same position as many of us and are looking to know more.
If you are in doubt as to whether the property management company that is responsible for your development is associated to Consensus Business Group or Peverel Property Management Group, do contact us and we’ll investigate this for you.
The ‘Admin’ team of TTAS now has access to a wealth of information from company accounts, how the companies are structured, even down to who the directors are and what other companies they are associated to who are not necessarily part of the Consensus Business Group – so be assured that the information you read on TTAS is not made up to disparage Peverel, it is here to assist you.
Whether you are contemplating buying a property that PPMG is responsible for, need advice on how to commence RTM actions or just have a general question about what can be done – TTAS is here to help, ask the question publicy and others will help.
Enjoy our community, but be cautious of the one that calls himself ‘Andy – Online Feedback Manager’, you can even sign up and become a member of TTAS (for free), whereby you can private message other TTAS contributors so that you can find a friend and fight as one – because strength in numbers is key to defeating this organisation
